MATERNAL HEALTH SERVICES
Maternal Health Nurses provide one-on-one support for children and families to assess their healthcare needs before, during and after pregnancy.
Health services include:
- Education and training on all stages of pregnancy
- Adult, infant and toddler health assessments and screenings
- Support in identifying a medical home
- Pregnancy and STI testing and counseling
- Women’s health needs
- Nutrition and Fitness
FAMILY LIFE PLANNING
Family Life Specialists assist children and families to locate the supportive services they need to enhance the health and well-being of their families.
Services include:
- Locating medical and dental care for the entire family
- Referrals behavioral health services
- Resources and referrals for housing
- Employment and job readiness
- resources
- Completing education goals
- Financial management referrals
- Assessing emergency services
FATHERHOOD SERVICES
OHS Fatherhood Specialist assists and supports fathers in the importance of being a responsible and active father through education and resources.
Programs include:
- Effective parenting and/or co-parenting
- Goal planning and implementation
- Healthy and effective communication
- Financial planning resources
- Healthy relationships
- Men’s medical and behavioral health services

Omaha Healthy Start (OHS) aims to reduce the rate of infant mortality in Douglas County – with special attention on lowering the number of infant deaths that occur among African-American families.
